SPAIN. Following the re-discovery of Amercia, Spain become the richest and most powerful nation in the world, but in the centuries which followed it lost practically all its overseas possessions.
It is situated on the Iberian peninsula in south-western Europe. Spain is an agricultural country, but its mineral wealth is enormous.
Its inhabitants, however, are very indolent, and this is one of the reasons why so many of them are poverty stricken.
Stamps first issued in 1850.
